Marcus Martin, PhD, MPH, MA

Cofounder & Head of Health Equity

Dr. Marcus Martin is a successful entrepreneur and researcher who has a passion for leveraging innovative technology, applied research, and technical assistance to support well-being and improvements in health equity across all communities. He has formal academic training in epidemiology, population health, demography, statistics, and economic development. For the past twenty-five years, Dr. Martin has worked extensively to increase the capacity of hundreds of community and faith based organizations to address disparities in health, education, and housing. Dr. Martin’s previous work experiences include serving as a faculty member at the University of Oklahoma, serving as the Sr. Biostatistician for the fourth largest county health department in the State of Texas, serving as the founding Director of the J. McDonald Williams Institute, and serving as the President and CEO of the Education Is Freedom Foundation. Dr. Martin received his PhD from Howard University in Sociology and Applied Statistics and his Master’s of Public Health Degree in Population Health and Epidemiology from the University of North Texas Health Science Center School of Public Health, where he also has an adjunct faculty appointment.  Dr. Martin also received a Master’s of Arts Degree in Social Science from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. He is a first-generation college graduate who grew up in Jennings, Louisiana and attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe on a Football Scholarship.
